Digital advertising boards installed in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) were switched off after they were reportedly hacked and briefly displayed obscene content.

According to media reports, the screens installed along Khayaban-e-Ittehad and Abdul Sattar Avenue showed inappropriate material for a short period before they were switched off.

Videos of the hacked screens quickly went viral on social media, prompting the relevant authorities to take immediate action and shut down the displays.

Officials said that as a precaution, several other digital advertising screens on major roads in DHA, as well as on Shahrah-e-Faisal and Karsaz Road, were also temporarily turned off.

The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has launched an investigation into the incident, with authorities collecting technical evidence to trace those responsible for the hacking.
