CTD official killed as bank heist foiled in Balochistan's Panjgur

Armed men attempted to rob a private bank in Panjgur district of Balochistan, but their attempt was foiled after a swift response by police and security forces.

According to police officials, the suspects entered the bank and began looting before law enforcement agencies (LEAs) were alerted and rushed to the scene. This led to a heavy exchange of gunfire between the attackers and security personnel

During the shootout, a Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) official, identified as Dur Muhammad, was martyred, while two civilian passers-by sustained injuries. Police said the CTD officer lost his life after being hit by gunfire from the assailants.

Authorities said the attackers managed to escape with some cash, but their plan was foiled due to the timely action by security forces. Following the incident, a large-scale search operation was launched in and around the area to trace and arrest the suspects.

Additional security personnel have been deployed as part of the operation.

The injured civilians were shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors said they are out of danger. Police have registered a case and said efforts are under way to apprehend those involved in the attempted robbery.
