Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Gandapur revealed that he is a religious scholar too, aside from being the province's chief executive and seniour politician.

He made the statement during the oath-taking ceremony for the newly-elected members of the Peshawar Press Club on Thursday.

However, his revelation was a "veiled warning" to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led federal government in relation to the recent controversy surrounding KP's resources.

Talking about the province’s rights, the chief minister said that he was proud of his province sharing its resources with others, but it should get its rights.

"I am a religious scholar, although it may not be apparent from my face. I am also an experienced horse rider and then I have a leader like Imran Khan who always advises us to remain true to our principles. When you combine these three factors, you get a 6.3-foot-tall person like me. so I'm giving a message to the federal government, don't take it lightly," the CM KP said.

“The provision of due rights to us [KP] should not be considered a charity. We are humble, but we know how to get hold of our rights. If you [the federal government] don’t give us our rights, we will not let you sit comfortably in Islamabad,” the PTI stalwart added.

CM Gandapur further said that the incarcerated former prime minister, Imran Khan, was subjected to injustice.

"Justice would be delivered to Imran only when he is freed from jail," he concluded.
