Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Captain (Retd.) Safdar has said that the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) would have spiralled out of control if governor’s rule and an emergency had not been imposed.

He expressed hope that the measures would achieve their intended objectives.

Speaking to the media in Faisalabad, Captain (R) Safdar said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government came to power in KP in 2013 because of Nawaz Sharif’s principled stance.

He alleged that despite receiving the largest share of funds under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, the province had not received adequate attention.

Captain (R) Safdar claimed that corruption worth Rs40 billion had taken place in a small district and Rs10 billion in Kala Dhaka.

He questioned how long the bomb blasts in Bannu and Kohat could have been tolerated. He further alleged that, instead of focusing on governance, the PTI had concentrated solely on organising long marches.

He also claimed that, in the past, wheat imported from Ukraine had been supplied to people that even chickens would not eat.

He alleged that subsidised wheat from Punjab had been sold at inflated prices, benefiting middlemen and the relatives of those involved.
