The Pakistan Army has clinched the gold medal at Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2025 in the United Kingdom (UK) in a feat hailed by the military as a “proud moment” for the nation and its armed forces.
The annual exercise, held from October 3 to 13, is recognised globally as one of the most grueling military endurance competitions. Participants are required to navigate through rugged Welsh terrain, covering nearly 60 kilometers within 48 hours, while performing a series of tactical and specialist missions under simulated combat conditions.
Now in its 66th year, the 2025 edition saw 137 teams from 36 countries competing for top honors. The Pakistan Army team, led by Captain Muhammad Saad, secured the gold medal for what the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) described as “exceptional performance.”
“Pakistan Army’s team has won the Gold Medal in Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2025 held in Wales, UK,” the ISPR said in an official statement. “It is indeed a proud moment for the whole nation and Pakistan Army, which is known for its professionalism and highest standards of training.”
The military’s media wing said the event “retained its demanding professional standards,” assessing the participating troops on tactical acumen, physical endurance, and teamwork in challenging field conditions.
“Pakistan Army has always held the country’s flag high and will keep endeavouring in future as well,” the statement added.
Organised annually by the British Army since 1959, Exercise Cambrian Patrol is often referred to as “the Olympic Games of military patrolling.” It attracts soldiers from NATO and non-NATO countries alike, testing their skills in leadership, navigation, and combat discipline.
