Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi chaired his first official meeting on Monday since taking office on October 15, questioning the federal government’s "wrong policies" to fight terrorism in the province.
According to a statement shared on his office's X account, Afridi claimed that the federal government failed to release funds allocated to KP under the ongoing counter-terrorism program and was denying the province other constitutional rights.
He emphasised that timely release of funds is essential for strengthening the police force and effectively tackling terrorism, while praising the KP police for their continued sacrifices in the fight against militancy.
The CM also raised concerns over the bulletproof vehicles supplied by the Interior Ministry, describing them as "defective and old" for police use, and called for their replacement.

Stressing that maintaining law and order is a top priority, Afridi assured that the police would receive adequate funding, modern equipment, and necessary resources to perform their duties without hindrance.
He further pledged that no political worker would be arrested under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance, which allows authorities to detain individuals to prevent threats to public safety or maintain order.
The MPO has faced criticism in the past, with a petition filed by PTI founder Imran Khan in the Supreme Court last year seeking restrictions on its use against political activists, opposition members, and civil rights campaigners.
