ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has nominated Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as its representative on the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, according to sources.

Sources said a formal notification regarding his appointment is expected to be issued soon. The nomination comes after senior lawyer Farooq H. Senior lawyer Farooq H Naek had stepped down from the commission, citing personal reasons.

Bilawal had previously withdrawn his nomination in November 2024, objecting to what he said was the government’s failure to ensure equal representation in the commission.

The PPP’s Central Executive Committee is expected to decide the party’s future strategy regarding the government. Bilawal is likely to convene a CEC meeting after returning to Pakistan to discuss key matters.

The development follows a recent meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Bilawal, during which the two leaders agreed to mobilise Parliament for the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment and consult JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
