At least 178 people dead, 491 injured in rain-related incidents across Pakistan: NDMA

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Thursday released a detailed report estimating the human and infrastructural losses caused by widespread flooding across Pakistan between June 26 and July 17.
According to the NDMA, at least 178 people lost their lives, and 491 were injured in rain-related incidents during this period.
Punjab was the worst-hit province, where 103 people, including 50 children, died, and 385 others were injured.
The province-wise breakdown is as follows:
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 38 fatalities, 57 injured
Sindh: 20 fatalities, 40 injured
Balochistan: 16 fatalities, 4 injured
Azad Jammu and Kashmir: 1 fatality
In the past 24 hours alone, the NDMA reported 54 deaths due to heavy rains and flooding, with 22 of the victims being children.
The majority of these casualties were again reported in Punjab, where 227 people were injured.
The floods have also caused significant damage to property and livestock. In the last 24 hours:
88 houses were damaged, bringing the total to 610 houses damaged nationwide.
A group of 126 cattle was swept away by floodwaters in a single incident.
The NDMA continues to coordinate with provincial disaster authorities and emergency services to manage relief efforts and mitigate further damage amid ongoing monsoon activity.
