Afghan regime’s false claim of capturing Pakistani tank exposed

The Afghan regime’s claim of capturing a Pakistani military tank has been proven false after verification revealed the vehicle shown in a viral video was not Pakistani but a Russian-made T-55.

Afghanistan’s government spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, shared a video on X, showing a tank being carried by locals and claimed it was a Pakistani tank seized by Afghan forces during recent border clashes.

However, the tank featured in the video was identified as a Russian T-55, not a Pakistani. The footage, which went viral on Afghan social media accounts, showed the tank moving through a public area with people sitting on top of it.

Several users on X who reshared the clip claimed it depicted a Pakistani tank captured by Afghan forces. But journalist Anas Mallick, known for covering military and conflict affairs, clarified that the tank was actually Russian and that similar tanks had recently been destroyed by Pakistan’s forces in retaliatory strikes following unprovoked Afghan aggression along the border.

In his post, Zabihullah Mujahid alleged that Pakistan launched attacks in the Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province, claiming that “12 people were killed and 100 others were injured.”

In a follow-up statement, he asserted that Afghan forces had launched a counterattack, killing several Pakistani soldiers. “Their outposts and centers were captured, weapons and tanks fell into the hands of Afghan forces, and most of their military installations were destroyed,” he claimed.

Mujahid further stated that the “Mujahideen” were fully prepared to defend their country, saying their “spirits are high.”
