More than 250,000 sacrificial animals were brought to the cattle market on Karachi's Northern Bypass this year, of which around 99 per cent have been sold, the market's administrator Tariq Tanoli has said.

He said all major blocks, including those from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh and other regions, were fully cleared. He added that the market, established on April 5, also turned into a family festival, where visitors—especially children—enjoyed food stalls and refreshing drinks such as watermelon juice.

Administration in-charge Aslam Baloch said that only around 500 animals, including camels, cows, bulls and goats, are still left at the site and were expected to be sold soon.

Tanoli further said that the initiative not only facilitated buyers and sellers but also generated employment opportunities for vendors and stall owners. He also appreciated the role of media coverage in highlighting the success of the event.
