A Pakistani-manned cargo ship carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) was struck by a drone at a Yemeni port, leaving 24 crew members, including the captain, trapped on board under the control of Houthi rebels.
While no Pakistani casualties have been reported, the crew is urgently appealing for evacuation as Islamabad intensifies efforts to secure their safe return.
As per sources, the ship is currently outside areas controlled by the Yemeni government. Pakistan is making every effort to ensure the safe return of its citizens on board.
In a video message, the Pakistani crew revealed that the ship was struck by a drone at a Yemeni port 10 days ago. The vessel was carrying LPG intended for unloading at the port.
The ship’s captain has demanded that the vessel be allowed to proceed immediately to Djibouti.
The Pakistani crew has stated that they are awaiting assistance from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the DG Ports.
According to them, Houthi rebels remain on board, preventing the crew from leaving the ship.
