Two Pakistani civilians were martyred and another wounded after Indian Border Security Force (BSF) resorted to unprovoked firing near the Pakistan-India border in Kasur.

Citing security sources, media reports said that the incident took place when the three men from Ladhar village moved a few steps beyond a border pillar. They said that the men were unarmed and had not crossed the border fence.

The martyred men were identified as Azmat Rasool Shah and Mohsin Jutt, both residents of Jattan Wali Haveli in Ladhar, the reports said.

They said that the firing was unprovoked, adding that the incident violated the border agreement and the established standard operating procedures between the two countries.

They also said the three men had not attempted to enter Indian territory.

According to the sources, Indian media's claims that the Pakistani civilians were infiltrators were part of a pattern of portraying such incidents as “false-flag” operations.
