24 people killed, over 100 injured in explosion at Islamabad imambargah

A powerful explosion has struck an Imambargah located in the Shehzad Town, in the outskirts of Islamabad. At least 24 people were killed and more than 100 were injured after the explosion during Friday prayers.
Police and rescue teams rushed to the scene shortly after the explosion, and injured individuals are being transported to nearby hospitals, including PIMS and the Polyclinic.
According to reports, emergency has been declared at PIMS on the instructions of the hospital’s executive director, with key units such as orthopaedics, neurology and the burn centre placed on high alert to handle incoming cases.
The district administration spokesperson said the site of the blast has been completely sealed off by security personnel.
The exact cause of the blast remains under investigation, and details regarding the nature of the device involved have not yet been confirmed by officials. Rescue operations are ongoing.
