Ten students have approached the Sindh High Court (SHC) over the MDCAT results, seeking a stay order against the final merit list and admission process until the original question paper and answer key are made public.
The petition has named six respondents, including the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Sukkur IBA University and Jinnah Sindh Medical University.
The students’ lawyer, Muhammad Nawaz Dahri, told the court that candidates were given only carbon copies of their answer sheets during the MDCAT held on September 20, while they were not allowed to take the question paper with them.
He argued that students could not effectively challenge the answer key without having access to the original question paper. The petition asks the court to direct the authorities to upload the original MDCAT question paper and answer key on the official website within three days.
The students have also requested that the final merit list and admissions process be suspended until the question paper is made public.
The lawyer said even a difference of a few marks can affect a candidate’s merit position and chances of securing admission to a medical college. He argued that questions over the transparency of the merit process would remain unless the question paper was disclosed.
