Syed Noor says casting TikToker Jannat Mirza in film was ‘a disaster’

Pakistani film director and producer Syed Noor has described casting TikTok personality Jannat Mirza in one of his films as “nothing short of a disaster”.

In a recent interview clip circulating on social media, Syed Noor was asked about social media personalities who gain fame through platforms such as Instagram and are cast in films based on their follower count.

Responding to the question, the filmmaker said that casting Jannat Mirza in his film had not been successful despite the effort invested in the project.

He stated that although the film had been made with great hard work, audiences did not turn up to cinemas to watch it.

Syed Noor added that viewers may have felt there was no need to watch Jannat Mirza on the big screen because they could already see her regularly on TikTok.

The director further said that films in the past had dedicated audiences who eagerly waited for a particular actor’s release, but that trend no longer exists to the same extent today.
