Indian playback singer Sonu Nigam credited legendary Pakistani singer Attaullah Khan Esakhelvi for playing a pivotal role in his musical journey.
In a recent interview, Sonu Nigam revealed that one of the earliest turning points in his career came when he performed Esakhelvi’s iconic song “Achcha Sila Diya Tune Mere Pyar Ka.”
He recalled receiving a phone call from Pakistan at the time, during which Attaullah Khan personally appreciated his rendition and praised his singing talent.
“I was just 19 when this happened. It was his kindness to encourage me, and I will always remain grateful,” Nigam said, adding that the song marked the beginning of his popularity.
“I always pray for the people who have been instrumental in my career. He has contributed greatly to my success; his songs, lyrics, and melodies were also crucial in shaping my music. I am indebted to him, as it was his songs that I performed which brought me such popularity,” the Bole Chudiyan singer added.
