Sarwat Gilani says JPNA 2 team disrespected and ignored her after shoot

Renowned actress Sarwat Gilani revealed that she was disrespected and ignored by the Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 2 team. Without taking names, she mentioned that she still meets her co-star Humayun Saeed and filmmaker Nadeem Baig cordially. However, she made it clear that she has no plans to work with them in the third installment of the film series.

In a recent interview, Sarwat shared that she was not treated well during the making of both Jawani Phir Nahi Aani films. The Joyland star said she was ignored and only given importance when the filmmakers needed her.

The actress revealed that her role in the first Jawani Phir Nahi Aani film was shortened, and her character did not appear in the final sequences of the first or second parts. She recalled that she had initially refused to work in JPNA 2 due to the lack of respect and opportunity in the first film.

However, Nadeem Baig had convinced her by assuring that her character would be completed in the sequel. 

According to Sarwat, that promise was not fulfilled either. Her role was again cut short in the second film, and she was not treated well during its promotions. “They only reached out when they needed me for work, and once the job was done, I was completely forgotten. I felt betrayed,” she said.

She further shared that for the promotion of JPNA 2, the entire team was scheduled to travel to Dubai. Although she had purchased her tickets with her own money, the team did not inform her about the departure time or share the schedule with her.

Expressing disappointment over the conduct of Nadeem Baig and Humayun Saeed, Sarwat said she could no longer risk her dignity or professional reputation. She confirmed that she has been approached again for the third installment but has decided not to participate. “I felt betrayed.  I want equal respect and recognition for my work. I cannot let my self-respect be compromised anymore,” she asserted.

Despite her grievances, the actress emphasised that she continues to meet Nadeem Baig and Humayun Saeed with respect whenever they meet, but she does not wish to collaborate with them again.

The first Jawani Phir Nahi Aani film was released in 2015, while the sequel came out in 2018. Sarwat Gilani appeared in both films, playing the role of a Pathan woman opposite Wasay Chaudhry, who portrayed her husband.
