Netizens can’t stop talking about the recent episode of ongoing drama series Case No. 9, praising renowned journalists Shahzaib Khanzada’s script, research, and the bold discussion on rape victims’ rights and the 26th Amendment.

Actress Sabeena Farooq also lauded the Case No. 9 team for addressing rape and harassment, saying:

“Kudos to the whole team of Case 9 for showing facts, hitting them right on the face of society. It is bold, it is bitter, but it is the truth.”

What stood out most in the episode was the lawyer referencing Justice Ayesha Malik’s landmark 2020 ruling in a rape case, along with a decision by Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.

In January 2021, Lahore High Court’s Chief Justice Ayesha A Malik declared the two-finger virginity test for female rape victims “illegal and unconstitutional,” stating that it violates human dignity, a right guaranteed under Article 9 and Article 14 of the Constitution.

The court noted that the test is discriminatory and provides no evidentiary value in cases of sexual violence.

In March 2021, Supreme Court judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah also ruled that a woman’s character cannot be questioned in rape cases.

The judgment stated, “A woman, whatever her sexual character or reputation may be, is entitled to equal protection of law. No one has the license to invade her person or violate her privacy on the ground of her alleged immoral character.”

Netizens continued to praise the show, calling it a masterpiece. However, the scene where lawyer Aamina Sheikh mentions Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and the 26th Amendment has been removed from the episode on YouTube.

One X user said, “Outstanding efforts, the writing is absolutely brilliant. Truly remarkable work.”

Another commented, “Hey Shahzaib, you’ve done a wonderful job, brother. It’s truly a Netflix-worthy show. Hats off! And that 26th Amendment thing—God, I laughed even though the scene was intense.”

Overall, netizens reacted strongly and praised Khanzada for choosing this script and openly addressing such sensitive issues.
