The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered a case against YouTuber Rajab Butt for allegedly promoting online gambling applications through social media.

According to the FIR, Butt allegedly encouraged people to invest in gambling and betting apps through his videos and advertisements, which led many to lose their hard-earned money.

The complaint states that the YouTuber had also served as a brand ambassador for a well-known betting app. The agency said that despite repeated notices, he failed to appear before the NCCIA to record hi statement.

The NCCIA has also filed separate cases against two other YouTubers for promoting gambling applications.

Earlier this week, a Lahore court rejected the bail application of YouTuber Saadur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, in a case pertaining to alleged promotion of gambling apps.

Rehman was taken into custody on August 17 from Allama Iqbal International Airport while attempting to leave the country.

Magistrate Muhammad Naeem Wattoo ruled that his actions had extraordinary effects on society, particularly on young people. He observed that the YouTuber had neither denied his ties with the app nor provided any credible explanation for the recovered funds.
