Renowned designer Maria B has been summoned by the National Counter Terrorism Authority’s Cyber Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Lahore to respond to a complaint alleging that she spread propaganda against the transgender community. The complaint reportedly arose after she shared a video claiming to show a private transgender party in Lahore.
The notice, served to Maria B, instructs her to appear before the NCCIA on August 26. Authorities warned that failure to attend would be treated as a waiver of her right to defence.
The controversy erupted after the video sparked outrage on social media over inappropriate and indecent acts in the party.
In response, Lahore police launched an investigation into the event, registered a case, and took five individuals into custody. However, a duty magistrate ordered their release on Sunday due to insufficient evidence.

Lahore police announced plans to appeal the decision in sessions court.
Following the incident, members of the transgender community and feminist advocates condemned Maria B for sharing the video and making unverified claims, arguing that her actions endangered lives and led to harassment during police raids on transgender residences.
Some individuals were reportedly taken into custody, while others faced intimidation at their homes.
In a statement on Instagram, Maria B defended her actions, claiming she was targeted for exposing what she described as a “unislamic transgender agenda.” She urged authorities to focus on arresting the alleged organisers of the event rather than its attendees.
