Javeria Abbasi says her nikah followed Sunni and Shia traditions

Actress Javeria Abbasi shared that her second marriage was unlike any other, as her nikah was performed in both Sunni and Shia traditions, a ceremony she fondly described as a “Su-Shi wedding.”

During a recent interview, Javeria opened up about her daughter Anzela Abbasi and her own marriage, sharing personal insights into both aspects of her life.

Her daughter, Anzela Abbasi, recently took part in the Miss Universe Pakistan 2024 pageant and made it to the top 21 contestants, though she did not win the title.

Reflecting on the experience, Javeria said that while Anzela faced criticism for her decision to participate, she fully supported her daughter’s choices.

Javeria also mentioned that even though Anzela appeared in a burkini during the competition, people still found reasons to criticise, something she felt was unnecessary.

Speaking about her marriage, Javeria said her nikah was a rare and meaningful ceremony, performed in both Sunni and Shia traditions. She explained that the rituals from both families were beautifully combined, creating what she called a “dual nikah.”
