Dhurandhar has been re-released in cinemas in a revised version after objections from the Baloch community, according to reports.

The movie, directed by Aditya Dhar, had a controversial dialogue; “Magarmachh pe bharosa kar sakte hai, par Baloch pe nahi. “

According to multiple sources, the revised version muted at least two words and the dialogue in question, including the removal of the word “Baloch” in certain lines.

Earlier this month, members of the Baloch community in Gujarat and other parts of India raised objections. Ejaz Makrani, president of the Junagadh Baloch Makrani Society and an advocate, filed a petition to the Gujrat High Court stating that specific language in the film was derogatory to the Baloch community.

The notice issued stated, “The deliberate use of vulgar and abusive language against a community constitutes hate-oriented speech, promotes social disharmony, and violates the fundamental principles of equality, dignity and respect.”

Theatres were instructed to run the updated version of the film onwards.

The edits, however, are minor and do not significantly alter the storyline of the film. The film has also faced international obstacles; it remains banned in several Gulf countries over its political content. Nevertheless, the film is doing well on the box office, generating INR 7.4 billion in just 29 days.
