Comedian singer Chahat Fateh Ali Khan has threatened legal action against a UK restaurant for sharing a video of him being attacked with eggs outside their venue in June, despite earlier telling him no footage of the incident existed.
The attack took place on June 19 outside Paratha Stop, a Pakistani restaurant in Blackburn, England, where Khan had performed earlier that evening. He said members of the security team asked to take photos with him outside the venue as he was leaving.
The video, later shared on the restaurant’s Instagram account, showed two masked men pelting him with eggs and striking him on the head before fleeing.
The controversy resurfaced on Thursday after the restaurant posted the video asking the public for information on the assailants. The management has not publicly responded to Khan’s allegations that they withheld the footage from him when he initially sought it.
Khan expressed anger at the restaurant, saying he had approached its owners—identified as Erum and Faiz—for evidence after the incident, as he was considering filing a police complaint.
“They told me there was no video, that the CCTV cameras hadn’t captured anything and no staff had recorded it,” he said in an Instagram reel. “Now it turns out they lied to me. I will go to court, and I will have their business shut down.”
He said the attack left him unwell, and four days later he considered pursuing a case with the police, only to be told by the restaurant there was no evidence available.
Despite the ordeal, Khan said he had received overwhelming public support since the video surfaced.
