Celebrities came out in support of rapper Talha Anjum after actor and host Nadia Khan vehemently criticised him on-air for raising the Indian flag during a concert. Sonya Hussyn, Yasir Hussain, and several others from the entertainment industry disagreed with Nadia’s approach, saying she attempted to shame a popular artist by questioning his loyalty to Pakistan.

Taking to Instagram, Sonya Hussyn defended Anjum, saying artists do not deserve to be treated like criminals. “With all due respect, no artist deserves to be treated like a criminal, least of all on national television!!” she wrote. She added, “Being moved by the audience’s love and expressing it by raising a flag does not make anyone disloyal to their country.”

She further praised Talha as a self-made artist who has spent years honing his craft and representing Pakistan with pride on global stages. “No offence, but I believe this conversation could have been conducted with far more grace, understanding, and respect,” she added.

Meanwhile, Yasir Hussain also took a dig at Nadia Khan, with whom he previously had a dispute, and likened her to India’s notorious anchor Arnab Goswami.

“To all the Arnab Goswamis… This man loves Pakistan and he has made his country proud. That’s why he gets invited to international concerts, and Indians come to his shows,” he wrote.

Nadia Khan had interviewed Talha Anjum and confronted him harshly during her programme after a video of him holding an Indian flag at a concert went viral. Social media users criticised Nadia for grilling the rapper without allowing him to speak or explain his side.

Nadia also questioned his social media posts, which she claimed were in favour of India. Talha later said that if his actions hurt his fans’ sentiments, he was willing to apologise. “I apologise to everybody if anyone was hurt by my actions. I owe it all to Pakistan,” he said.
