MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Imran Khan, nephew of actor Aamir Khan, has reportedly been served a notice by Mumbai Police directing him to leave India by October 28 following his participation in a protest in the city.

According to Indian media reports, the action was taken after Khan attended a demonstration at August Kranti Maidan in Mumbai, where protesters were demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

Police had detained the actor during the protest.

According to Mumbai Police, Khan is not an Indian citizen. Authorities have reportedly initiated action against him under the relevant provisions of India’s immigration law over his participation in the demonstration.

The notice directs Khan to leave the country by October 28.

The development has raised questions about the actor’s legal status in India and the steps he may take in response to the notice.
