Authorities in Lahore have advised citizens to avoid unnecessary outdoor activities as smog levels worsen across the city.
According to the Smog Monitoring Centre, winds blowing from the east are likely to keep the average Air Quality Index (AQI) between 195 and 210 today.
Due to lower morning temperatures, pollutant particles are expected to remain suspended in the air for longer periods.
Officials said that anti-smog guns will be deployed in areas most affected by high air pollution levels.
It is worth noting that Punjab’s Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb recently announced on social media that the first anti-smog gun was used in Lahore’s Kahna area, resulting in a 70% reduction in air pollution — with the AQI dropping from 666 to 170.
Marriyum Aurangzeb added that anti-smog guns will now be utilized in other high-risk areas to mitigate pollution and improve air quality.
