King Abdullah Medical City, which is one of the Makkah Health Cluster centers, has saved the life of a Libyan pilgrim suffering from a heart attack during Hajj.
The process has been implemented through a mobile cardiac catheterization facility at Al-Haram Emergency Hospital based on an emergency system launched specifically for the Hajj season.
In accordance with the information received from Makkah Health Cluster, the Libyan pilgrim was admitted to a nearby hospital due to myocardial infarction.
Following consultation with King Abdullah Medical City, he was promptly moved to the mobile catheterization lab at Al-Haram Emergency Hospital.
The medical team started treatment once the patient had been admitted. Doctors successfully unblocked the artery that caused the heart attack and restored normal blood flow within just nine minutes. Moreover, a second artery, 90 percent clogged, was cleared.
As a result, the condition of the patient considerably improved. With the help of medical personnel, he recovered and left the hospital. It allowed him to go through all stages of Hajj without any problems.
