SBP rinalises design for new currency notes, awaits cabinet approval

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has finalised the design for a new series of currency notes, according to SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad.

Speaking at a press conference in Karachi on Wednesday, the governor announced that an international expert had created the selected design. He added that the process of introducing the new notes is underway.

"The design has been finalised, and the work will proceed once we receive approval from the federal cabinet," Ahmad said during the briefing, which primarily addressed the SBP’s decision to maintain the current interest rate.

The governor did not provide details regarding the denomination, colours, or features of the new notes. He clarified that the designs have not yet been made public.

A previous image circulating on social media, showing redesigned currency notes, was taken from an art competition held earlier by the State Bank and is unrelated to the official design.
