Pakistan’s gold imports fell by 47.79 per cent during the first eleven months of the current fiscal year compared to the same period last year, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The data showed that gold imports stood at $16.090 million during July-May of fiscal year 2025-26, down from $30.817 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2024-25.

In terms of quantity, the country imported 306 kilograms of gold during the period under review, compared to 391 kilograms in the same period last year, marking a decline of 21.65 percent.

However, on a year-on-year basis, gold imports recorded a sharp rise in May 2026. The imports were valued at $3.044 million, compared to $0.927 million in May 2025, showing an increase of 228.38 percent.

The quantity of gold imported also rose during the month, increasing from 9 kilograms in May last year to 20 kilograms in May this year, reflecting a growth of 125.93 percent.

On a month-on-month basis, gold imports also moved up in May 2026. The imports increased by 28.33 percent compared to $2.372 million recorded in April 2026.

In quantity terms, imports rose by 35.56 percent, from 15 kilograms in April to 20 kilograms in May, the PBS data showed.
