The Commissioner of Karachi has approved the establishment of cattle markets at designated locations across the city, granting permission to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) for selected sites.

According to an official notification, cattle markets will be set up at Sunday Bazaar in North Karachi, KMC Ground, Safari Park, and in Gulistan-e-Johar Blocks 5 and 6. Additional markets will be established at Bakra Piri in Lyari and on a vacant plot in Korangi.

Earlier, the KMC had sought approval to establish cattle markets at 11 locations; however, permission has currently been granted for a limited number of sites.

This development complements the existing annual cattle market at Northern Bypass, which remains the city’s largest hub, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors and traders during festive seasons.

The new markets aim to alleviate pressure on the Northern Bypass site while providing residents with more accessible options for livestock purchases year-round.

Authorities have indicated that strict hygiene and safety protocols will be enforced at all five new locations to maintain public health standards.
