Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that the proposal to abolish taxes on mobile phones is being considered.

Speaking in the Senate, he said that due to the current economic situation, the government is sometimes forced to take measures that are not normally preferred. He added that the proposal to end the PTA tax on mobile phones is under review.

He informed the House that mobile phones brought into Pakistan are sometimes automatically blocked after a few weeks. Phones brought from abroad are disabled by the system if they are not registered on the network, he added.

Tariq Fazal Chaudhry further said that the government is working on various measures to facilitate overseas Pakistanis and efforts are ongoing to address their concerns.
