The federal government is expected to approve a fresh increase in petroleum prices, effective from October 1, 2025, with hikes ranging between Rs1.97 and Rs4.65 per litre, sources said on Monday.
According to industry estimates, petrol is likely to rise by Rs1.97 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) may go up by Rs2.48 per litre.
Light diesel oil (LDO) could see an increase of Rs1.76 per litre, and kerosene oil is projected to face the sharpest jump of Rs4.65 per litre.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has completed its calculations and will forward the summary to the Ministry of Finance through the Petroleum Division. The final decision will be announced by the finance ministry after receiving the prime minister’s approval.
On September 16, the government kept the price of petrol unchanged at Rs264.61 per litre, while increasing high-speed diesel by Rs2.78, bringing its rate to Rs272.77 per litre. Those rates remain in effect until the end of September.
Officials said the adjustments are part of the routine review process, which reflects global oil market trends and exchange rate fluctuations.
