All Karachi Tajir Ittehad has said that this year’s Eidul Fitr sales in Karachi, the financial capital of the country, remained much lower due to the rising inflation.

AKTI Chairman Atiq Mir said that retail sales in the metropolis have witnessed a sharp drop of 70 percent this year.

"There has been a 70% reduction in sales across all categories," Mir said while talking to a private news channel.

The traders have managed to earn only Rs18 billion during Ramadan in 2024, he added.

According to Mir, inflation and the law and order situation dented the sales for Eidul Fitr this year.

On the other hand, inflation decelerated for the third month in a row to 20.7 percent year-on-year in March.

But, the recent economic downslide has deeply impacted the ardour of low-income families, who had not shown the willingness to buy new things this Eid.
