Adeeb Ahmed has been appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer of K-Electric, following the resignation of former CEO Moonis Alvi, the company confirmed on Friday.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the K-Electric Board of Directors convened to discuss the company’s leadership.

The appointment has also been formally communicated to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).

Ahmed is a long-serving member of the organisation, having served as a director at K-Electric since 2019.

According to the company’s website, he brings more than 34 years of professional experience, including senior executive roles across the energy and infrastructure sectors.

His career spans private equity management, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate transformation projects across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Turkey, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Southeast Asia and Pakistan.

Ahmed has previously worked with investment banking institutions in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and Pakistan, where he led several M&A, privatisation and capital-raising assignments.

Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Hascol Petroleum Limited.

He has also held senior advisory positions at the Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD) in Saudi Arabia, serving as Senior Adviser to the CEO and Deputy CEO-Designate.

Ahmed holds a Master of Science degree from the London School of Economics (LSE) in the United Kingdom and an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi.

K-Electric has not announced a timeline for appointing a permanent chief executive.
