A local court in Karachi witnessed a bizarre case on Friday as a woman filed a lawsuit against her fellow beggars after the latter forcefully expelled her from an area where she used to beg.

Additional District and Sessions Court announced the decision on the lawsuit of a female beggar, who requested to file a case against the three male beggars.

The judge dismissed her plea but acknowledged the hardship of her situation. The judge expressed concern about the underlying reasons that compel people to beg.

The court explained that a ruling in her favour was not possible due to the unlawful nature of her request.

The verdict stated that public spaces cannot be reserved for begging and expressed hope for an alleviation of hardships faced by all parties involved.

According to police, a dispute over place arose when a woman begging on a footpath in Saudabad was approached by three others who forced her to leave the area.

She filed a harassment complaint against them, but the police refused to register a case.

The homeless woman then filed a lawsuit in court against the three beggars, Shaif, Nazeer, and Mir Gul.
