Karachi fishermen catch rare sowa fish worth Rs1.5 billion

A group of fishermen in Karachi became rich overnight after they caught 700 rare sowa fish off the coast of Keti Bandar Port and sold them for a whopping Rs1.5 billion.
According to fishermen, the rare fishes were caught in the nets of the three boats.
A day earlier, almost 123 sowa fish were trapped by the fisherman near Keti Bandar.

The aquatic life experts said the rare croaker fish come close to the shores of Keti Bandar and adjacent seas in the summer for breeding.
The sowa fish is in high demand in some Asian and European countries.
As per marine experts, a special type of matter found in the fish is considered to be more precious than meat and is used by pharmaceuticals in the production of surgical items.
