A police officer suffered multiple injuries when he was allegedly run over by a vehicle belonging to the son of a Sindh government official.

The incident came to light when Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South Sajid Saduzai ordered registration of an FIR against the suspect, who happens to be the son of a top bureaucrat, according to reports.

Head Constable Mukhtiar Ahmed sustained serious wounds in the incident that occurred in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase 8 within the jurisdiction of the Sahil police station on the night of December 19, 2023.

As per the content of the FIR, a copy of which has been shared by journalist Faheem Siddiqui on his X account, Ahmed stated that he, along with two other police officers, was on patrol duty when they spotted a black colour car (GS-7173) parked under suspicious circumstances in Phase 8.

He said that when he approached the vehicle to check it, he found a person, named Wasim Ali, sitting in the driving seat with a girl in the front seat.

"How dare you check my car. I am the son of Shamshad Ali, who is the Sindh revenue secretary," the police officer quoted the driver as telling him. He added the driver used abusive language before driving towards Khayaban-e-Iqbal.

“The boy returned and rammed his speeding car into me with the intention of killing and sped away," the cop recalled.

He said he suffered serious injuries with both legs and a right-hand suffering fractures.

The police officer is currently undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
