Karachi father sets himself on fire along with 3 children over crippling debt

In a tragic incident, a father burdened with debt doused himself and his three children with petrol and set them on fire in North Karachi, it emerged on Wednesday. 

The man identified as Arif and his 4 and 5-year-old daughters, along with his 3-year-old son, sustained severe burns, and their condition is reported as critical by the authorities.

Arif's mother-in-law stated that he was in debt, and the three children, from his deceased first wife, lived with him and his second wife.

His stepson disclosed to the media that his father has been struggling with mental health issues.

According to the police, Arif is undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital, while his three children are receiving medical care at the National Institute of Child Health. 

The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.
