In yet another incident of killing over robbery resistance in Karachi, a man, who was the father of five children, was shot dead by muggers on Karsaz road.

The incident happened when two armed robbers riding a motorbike intercepted Nazir Sultan, who was also on a two-wheeler, on Karsaz road to rob him.

The police, who were busy patrolling near Karsaz, reached the spot and opened fire at the muggers.

In response, the robbers also resorted to fire and the bullet pierced into the chest of Sultan, police said.

According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East Irfan Bahadur, one of the robbers also got injured in the cross-fire and was shifted to the hospital for medical assistance.

However, another robber manages to escape the crime scene, Bahadur added.

As per the details, the deceased was a carpenter by profession and hailed from Jhang, Punjab. 

He was the father of five children, including four daughters and a son.

As Karachi remains mired in the daunting challenge of street crime, 35 people have been killed for resisting robbery in different areas of the metropolis in just two months of the year 2024.
