Zoha – Another Victim of Honor Killing and People Want Justice
Honor Killing- the word to which a person falls victim to every other day in Pakistan which has the highest number of documented and estimated honor killings in the world.
About one-fifth of the world’s honor killings are performed in Pakistan (1000 out of the 5000 per year total).
These are just the reported cases, there are many cases which are still unregistered and the murderers are living freely.
On June 28, a young, 17-year-old girl Zoha was poisoned in the name of honor by her in-laws in Gandaf Village, Swabi.
Zoha was married to Shahbaz Khan who lives in the US and planned to take her wife along with him soon, so for some time, she lived with her in laws.
Her mother-in-law, Khatun Bibi didn’t want Zoha to go to USA. She tortured the poor soul mentally by blaming her for having illicit relations with several men in her husband’s absence.
Seeing Zoha’s unbreakable hopes, her in-laws poisoned her and killed her.
Zoha’s parents declared her mother-in-law Khatun Bibi and brother-in-law Mohsin Khan as the main culprit.
The victim’s elder sister is married into the same evil family, she told the media that Zoha screamed in pain and begged everyone to take her to the hospital.
After 8 hours, Zoha was taken to a local hospital in Topi.
Now, everyone from all around the world is demanding #JusticeforZoha
We appeal to the government to punish Zoha’s murderers as soon as possible so nobody else has to go through the same agony again.
