YouTuber arrested for ‘flying’ dog with helium balloons in India
A Delhi-based YouTuber Gaurav Sharma has been arrested for making his pet dog fly by tying helium balloons on its back.
YouTuber Gaurav Sharma’s video sparked massive outrage on social media platforms led a member of ‘People for Animals Society’ to file a complaint against him.
He alleged that YouTuber Gaurav Sharma, resident of Panchsheel Vihar, and a few others had filmed a video in which they were seen to have tied his pet dog with helium balloons and later they let loose the balloons, thereby making the dog fly in the air and hence, risking its life.
The police, after receiving the complaint, arrested Gaurav Sharma under Section 11(1)(D) Prevention to Cruelty to Animal Act, Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act. Sharma, after being arrested, told the police that he made this video for YouTube.
The video shows YouTuber Gaurav Sharma, who has more than 4 million subscribers, sitting on the top of a car. A bunch of colourful helium-filled balloons can be seen tied to the upper body of the dog. Sharma picks up the dog and says, “Chalo ab Dollar ko udate hain (Let’s fly Dollar now). He then let loose the balloons and the poor canine floats up to the balcony of a nearby house.
