Yousuf Raza Gilani announces resignation as Leader of the Opposition in Senate

Islamabad: Senate Opposition Leader Yousuf Raza Gilani said that he has submitted his resignation to the party leadership.
Speaking during the Senate session, Gilani said that the issue of SBP sovereignty bill was not taken into confidence, the message sent to him did not mention the SBP bill would be introduced.
Yousuf Raza Gilani said that the bill was not even sent to the committee. For the first time in the history of the Senate and Pakistan, the chairman had to vote for the passage of the SBP sovereignty bill, as an impartial chairman he should not have done so.
“I defended the constitution when I was Prime Minister. I was asked to write a letter to the Swiss authorities but I did not write because the president is the symbol of the federation and the president has constitutional protection,” he said.
Yousuf Raza Gilani further said that he does not want to be the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate, I have tendered my resignation to the leadership of my party.
