Young doctors protest over non-payment of salaries for nine months

KARACHI: Young doctors on Tuesday held a protest outside the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) headquarters near Light House in Saddar area.

The BDS House Officers, employees of the KMC, demanded releasing of their salaries and other dues of last nine months. They blocked MA Jinnah Road in protest. They said it had been quite long since they had been working without salaries.

A doctor said that they had been meeting high officials for last several months but to no avail. He said that they met former Karachi mayor Waseem Akhtar several times but he had a lot of excuses for not paying the salaries.

KMC Financial Adviser Afaq Sayeed said that the KMC had issued salaries. He said the issue was with their hospital administration if they did not release it.

He said he would hold an inquiry if a request was made in writing.
