You can win Rs1 million if you hack EVM
Shibli Faraz, Federal Minister for Science & Technology who is also a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) has announced prize money of Rs1 million for anyone who can crack into the system of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
During a talk show on a private news channel, Shibli Faraz told the host that anyone who will be able to hack into the EVM will receive Rs1 million as a prize.
Shibli Faraz accepted that the allies of the PTI led government had “reservations” regarding the induction of EVM for the upcoming general elections of 2023. But “their concerns were addressed by the government,” said Federal Minister for Science & Technology.
While criticizing the opposition, Shibli Faraz mentioned they invited the opposition to talk and discuss the usage of EVM but they want to “oppose anything said from our (government) side.”
Shibli Faraz further alleged the opposition of rigging the elections in previous times which is why they do not want the induction of this new technology.
Federal Minister for Science & Technology told that EVM runs on a battery that can power up the machine for 24 hours.
Yesterday, the bill regarding the usage of Electronic Voting Machine was passed by the government with a majority. Dr. Babar Awan, Adviser to Parliamentary Affairs presented the bill in the Joint Parliament Session.
