The World Hijab Day is being observed worldwide on 1st February (today).
The social media platform, Twitter has World Hijab Day on top trends due to numerous posts quoting its importance.
Moreover, the theme of World Hijab Day 2021 is “Don’t let our pride be your prejudice”.
On the contrary, the Philippines House of Representatives has approved a bill declaring 1st February as National Hijab Day.
A New York native, Nazma Khan initiated this global event to create awareness about wearing Hijab. The world Hijab Day is an annual event which is celebrated on 1st of February. On this day citizens of all faiths and backgrounds wear hijab (head-covering) for a day in solidarity with Muslim women worldwide.
The World Hijab Day has also been endorsed by world renowned individuals including scholars, politicians, and celebrities worldwide.
However, the World Hijab Day is an event that we should be proud of celebrating, not just for religious tolerance but also for women’s rights around the world.
