KARACHI: Since its launch by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2002, the World Day Against Child Labour is observed every year on June 12 “to raise awareness and activism to prevent child labour.”
The theme of this year World Day Against Child Labour is “Children shouldn’t work in fields, but on dreams”.
On this occasion, Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari said Ministry of Human Rights had initiated a nationwide campaign against child Labour in the country.
Dr Shireen Mazari said the government was committed to ensure a brighter future for the children of Pakistan.
“Pakistan is signatory to the Convention on Rights of the Child. Our Constitution protects these rights as do our laws. Let us ensure implementation and give our children a better future,” she tweeted.
“Children are our nation’s assets and Pakistan’s future,” she added.
