Addressing the press conference, Inamur Rahman said that, “Sara’s husband is a predator and an extortionist who trapped my daughter for his nefarious purposes.”
He revealed that Shahnawaz Amir, the son of renowned journalist Ayaz Amir, convinced Sara Inam for marriage and later started extorting money from her.
“Shahnawaz Amir kept demanding money from her, subjected her to mental torture and later brutally murdered her,” Rehman said.
Inamur Rehman said that, she was working as a consultant at the Ministry of Finance in Abu Dhabi, adding that, about 8 to 10 weeks ago, Sara told him that she was in relationship with someone and wanted to marry him. The family was shocked after hearing about her marriage in the last week of July.
The father said that when the family found out that the person Sarah wanted to marry was Ayaz Amir’s son, the family felt satisfied, later Shahnawaz Amir’s mother also spoke to the family on the phone and praised Sarah Inam.
He said that Sarah Inam was staying in Abu Dhabi and Shahnawaz Amir was living in Pakistan. He talked to Shahnawaz Amir several times on the phone and during that time he felt that Shahnawaz was a good person.
The victim’s father said that later Shahnawaz Ameer started demanding money from Sara and our family gradually came to the conclusion that he was an extortionist.
“Sara came to Pakistan once or twice but the family didn’t know about it, Shahnawaz Amir trapped her and later killed her and it was all planned.” Sarah’s father said.
Inamur Rehman added that there were only 3 people in the farmhouse and her body was found there the next day.
“We want justice from the Pakistani judicial system, our lawyer believes that the case against Shahnawaz Amir is strong because we have solid evidence,” Inamur Rehman expressed confidence.
Inamur Rahman further said that we are satisfied with the Islamabad Police and the investigation of the case.
Regarding senior journalist Ayaz Amir, Inamur Rehman said that he was not present in the house at the time of the murder, we do not want to involve any innocent person in the case, but whoever is guilty should be punished.
