Women college sealed in Lahore after professor dies from COVID-19

LAHORE: A women’s college in Samanabad area of Lahore was closed on Tuesday after an associate professor of the college died after contracting COVID-19.
The Government Post Graduate College for Women spokesperson said that Professor Nuzhat Jameel was suffering from coronavirus disease for last two days before he lost the battle for his life. Five other faculty members have also contracted the viral disease following which the college was sealed.
However, teachers, on condition of anonymity, said that the college administration had called them for work despite the grave situation of spread of the virus. About 50 percent of the teachers were still visiting the educational institute, they said.
As the second wave of Coronavirus intensifies in Pakistan, 67 more deaths and 2,458 new cases of infection were reported during the last 24 hours.
The death toll in the country has soared to 8,091 while 343,286 patients stand recovered from the pandemic.
There are now 400, 482 confirmed cases in the country out of which 2,165 are in critical condition.
