 Wife of Asif, who contracted third marriage, says will never again live with him

KARACHI: First wife of Asif, who contracted third marriage, has said she will never again live with him.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Madiha said treatment of husband and in-laws with her, during period of four years of marriage with him, had been mentally torturous.

She said she had received a message in 2018 claiming that she was Mrs Asif. When asked from spouse about the matter, he did not clarify, she said claiming that Asif had relations with other girls as well.

Madiha rejected her husband’s claim saying that her family did not subject him to torture on the night of his third marriage. She said he had been contracting marriage after every two years. She said all his friends and family members were present during his second as well as third marriage. “So, I believe that his family members destroy lives of women through planning.” Asif’s wife claimed that family of the girl, he was going to marry for the third time, supported her arguments.

She said it was not possible for her to stay with him anymore, however he would have to bear expenditures of his only child.

Lawyer of the woman said Asif could be charged with marrying without consent of her first wife, which could result in imprisonment for seven years or more.

First wife of Asif had arrived at the wedding ceremony of his husband in Karachi on night of Feb 10 and thrashed him badly for allegedly cheating her.

The incident had taken place in Block L, North Nazimabad. The husband, who was going to tie the knot for the third time, had been handed over to police after he was beaten so much that his clothes were torn.

Police had said they reached the marriage hall on information provided by attendants of the wedding ceremony. The groom had been shifted to Taimuria police station in injured condition and both the families were convened, they had said.
