KARACHI: Widespread rain and dust/thunderstorm are expected in most parts of the country, while snowfall over high mountains may take place during the next 12 hours, the Pakistan Meteorological Department reported.
Temperature of some major cities recorded on Wednesday morning: Islamabad 15 degree centigrade, Lahore 18, Peshawar 17, Karachi 26, Gilgit 8, Murree and Quetta 7 and Muzaffarabad 9 degree centigrade.
The temperature in Karachi is likely to fall up to 18 degree centigrade on November 7 as Cyclone Maha is passing by, according to the PMD. The cyclone is 670km away from the megacity.

“Winds at the speed of 160 to 180 kilometres per hour are expected to blow as the cyclone comes close,” reported Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz on Tuesday.
He had assured that the cyclone would not be a threat to the city.
On Nov 4, Cyclone ‘Maha’ had intensified from a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) to an Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm (ESCS) in the Arabian Sea.
Maha is likely to track further west/northwestwards during and then recurve in east-northeast direction towards Indian Gujarat.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Center of PMD is regularly monitoring the intensity and track of this Tropical Cyclone.
The cyclone was at a distance of about 1,140 km southeast of Karachi on Nov 2, about 797 km away on Nov 3 and about 770 km south of Karachi on Nov 4.
